Thoughtful moments.
Vibrant
community.
We curate events that bring people together and celebrate the soul of Oak Park.
These events are part of a broader investment in marketing, maintenance, public safety, and neighborhood vitality. By activating Broadway, Martin Luther King Jr. Boulevard, and the surrounding commercial corridors, our programs strengthen local businesses, support community well-being, and highlight the culture that makes Oak Park one of Sacramento’s most storied and evolving districts.
First Fridays
The Oak Park Business District sponsors First Fridays each season beginning in Early Summer and running through Fall/Winter.
This as an ongoing effort to highlight local businesses, artists, and community culture. The event encourages neighbors and visitors to explore the Broadway corridor, bringing people together in a relaxed, open-air setting that reflects the creative spirit of Oak Park.
Each First Fridays gathering is shaped by the businesses and community members who participate — from food and music to art, small-batch goods, and shared social space. The focus is on connection, local pride, and supporting the independent businesses that make Oak Park unique.
First Fridays continue to evolve over time, responding to the needs and energy of the neighborhood while keeping community at the center.

Gather Oak Park
The Oak Park Business District sponsors Gather, From Late Spring to Fall, Hosted by Unseen Heroes.
Gather Oak Park is a community-focused event series that brings neighbors, local vendors, creatives, and small businesses together in a shared outdoor space. The event has historically transformed the streets of Oak Park into a welcoming environment for food, music, art, and connection.
Gather continues to evolve with the neighborhood, creating opportunities to slow down, share space with neighbors, and celebrate the culture that makes Oak Park unique in Sacramento.

Oak Park Farmer’s Market
The Oak Park Farmers Market is operated by the Food Literacy Center. Visit the market every Saturday from April through November (9am to 1pm) to purchase fresh, local produce and to support local businesses.
A day at our market is filled with health and fun, whether it’s hanging out with your neighbors for a conversation and bite to eat, or joining a free yoga or cooking class.
The market has become a gathering place for connection and neighborhood pride, where familiar faces and new friends cross paths. It highlights the growers, makers, and small businesses who form the backbone of Oak Park’s local economy, and provides a welcoming space for people of all ages to slow down, support one another, and enjoy the rhythm of Sacramento life.

Historic Oak Park Tours
This walking tour was created using historical documents and professional surveys of historical properties. It also incorporates place specific memories of longtime Oak Parkers, collected by students in California State University Sacramento urban geography field classes in 2003 and 2005. The booklet was produced by Robin Datel, Professor Emeritus, Department of Geography, California State University Sacramento. Monitor OPBA’s Facebook Page for future tour dates/times.
